José Higuera is a Mexican-American, nonbinary artist based in North Carolina. Their professional career started in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2016 right after graduating High School. Upon completing Boot Camp they were assigned the M.O.S. (Military Occupational Speciality) of 3043-Supply Chain Management and 3112-Logistics management. They were stationed in Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina for four years. José participated in two deployments to Norway and was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal twice for their operation and execution of the Battalions Distribution Management Office while deployed.
After honorably discharging from the Marine Corps in 2020, José worked as a civilian aboard the Camp Lejeune Base in Human Resources. At the end of 2022 they left Civil Service to pursue their passions. They attended Coastal Carolina Community College where they received their Associates Degrees in Arts and Fine Arts in spring 2024. In late 2024 José lived in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico for several months to spend time with family, for cultural enrichment, and to hone their artistic abilities.
In 2025 they relocated to Washington, D.C. to acquire their bachelor’s degree in Businesses Administration.
